Best Office Chair for Work From Home in India (2026)

We earn a commission if you buy through our Amazon.in links. It costs you nothing extra and doesn’t decide our picks. How we choose →

If you work from home, you’ll sit in this chair eight hours a day, five days a week. Most “ergonomic” chairs on Amazon.in look the same in photos: black mesh, a headrest, a lever or two. The differences hide in the spec sheet. Can the lumbar support move to where your back actually curves? Can the seat slide forward or back for your leg length? Is the base metal or plastic? And what does the warranty cover once you read past the headline number?

We went through the office chairs on Amazon.in, dropped those with too few reviews or self-contradicting listings, and read what owners complain about. Seven are left, from about ₹3,000 to ₹35,000.

Short answer: for most people working from home, the Green Soul Jupiter Pro. It has the adjustments that matter (seat depth, 4D armrests, adjustable lumbar, a tilt that locks) for under ₹10,000. Under ₹5,000, get the beAAtho Verona Mid Back. If you already have back pain, look at The Sleep Company Onyx, and see a doctor or physiotherapist if the pain has lasted more than a couple of weeks.

1. Green Soul Jupiter Pro — best office chair for most people

Check Green Soul Jupiter Pro price on Amazon →

Who it’s for: Anyone working full days from home on a budget of about ₹9,000, roughly 5’0″ to 5’10” tall.

This is the cheapest chair we found that gets the four big adjustments right. The seat slides by up to 5 cm, so you can set the front edge a few fingers behind your knees. The armrests move in four directions, so you can pull them in under your elbows while you type. The lumbar cushion adjusts, and the back tilts in a 2:1 synchro movement (the seat tips a little as the back goes a lot) and locks at angles up to 135°. Green Soul’s own page lists a Class 4 gas lift and a metal base.

The cheaper Jupiter Superb has more ratings (over 12,000) but 2D armrests and no seat slider; the Pro is worth the small difference. A pricier “2026 Edition” Pro adds a 5-year warranty but swaps the multi-lock tilt for a weight-sensing recline. We’d rather keep the locks.

What we like

  • Seat slider and 4D armrests under ₹10,000
  • Tilt locks in several positions, not just upright
  • Class 4 lift and metal base, per Green Soul
  • 3-year warranty

Watch out for

  • Owner reviews are split on the lumbar cushion and seat foam. Keep the box until you’ve had a week in it.
  • Height range is unclear. Amazon says up to 6’1″; Green Soul’s own page says 5’0″–5’10”. Over 5’10”, sit in one first if you can.
  • Weight limit is 120 kg in the listing bullets and 125 kg elsewhere. Plan on 120.

Verdict: The office chair we’d tell most people to buy. Spend less only if you really must.

2. beAAtho Verona Mid Back — best under ₹5,000

Check beAAtho Verona price on Amazon →

Who it’s for: Students, first jobs, and anyone who needs a decent chair for a few hours of work a day and has about ₹3,000–3,500 to spend.

It’s also our under-₹5,000 pick in the gaming chair guide. The mesh back is cool in a room without AC, the backrest is shaped to push into your lower back, the gas lift is Class 4, and the back tilts to about 120° and locks. Over 6,000 Amazon.in buyers have rated it, with an average of 4.3, and it’s made in Ambernath, Maharashtra.

What we like

  • Class 4 gas lift at this price
  • Mesh back that breathes
  • Big, long track record on Amazon.in

Watch out for

  • The warranty is “3 years” on the seat but one year on everything else, including the gas lift and mechanism. Wear and tear and peeling upholstery aren’t covered.
  • Amazon’s review summary mentions a few backrests breaking and gas lifts failing within days. Rare, but check everything in the first week while returns are easy.
  • Amazon calls the base metal; beAAtho’s own site calls it nylon. Check the listing for your colour.
  • No headrest, fixed armrests, no seat depth adjustment. That’s the trade for the price.

Verdict: The best cheap office chair we found. For eight-hour days, stretch to the Jupiter Pro if you can.

3. CELLBELL Desire C104 — the cheapest one we’d consider

Availability, 24 October 2026: Amazon.in shows this one as “Currently unavailable”. We’ll replace it if it doesn’t come back soon. Until then, the beAAtho Verona Mid Back (pick 2) is our under-₹5,000 pick.

Check CELLBELL Desire C104 availability on Amazon →

Who it’s for: A spare chair, a child’s study table, or a tight ₹3,000 budget.

Over 10,000 ratings, a mesh back, a 5 cm foam seat, a locking tilt and a metal base. It’s comfortable enough for a few hours.

What we like

  • Low price, metal base
  • Tilt lock
  • Huge number of owner reviews to judge from

Watch out for

  • CellBell’s own warranty page says 1 year, limited, and lists what it won’t cover, including backrest breakage from regular use.
  • Owners report broken wheels and weak back support more often than with the Verona.
  • Weight limit is 105 kg on Amazon and 100 kg on CellBell’s site.
  • Gas lift class isn’t published anywhere we looked.

Verdict: Fine as a second chair. For daily work, the Verona is worth the extra few hundred rupees.

4. The Sleep Company Onyx — best for back pain under ₹10,000

Check The Sleep Company Onyx price on Amazon →

Who it’s for: People with lower-back discomfort who want an adjustable lumbar support and a softer seat, on a budget around ₹10,000.

Instead of mesh, the Onyx uses SmartGRID, a rubbery grid that spreads your weight and lets air through. The lumbar support is adjustable, the headrest and armrests move in two directions, and the back reclines between 90° and 135°. The brand lists a Class 4 lift from Samhongsa. Among its 3,000-plus Amazon.in ratings, “back pain relief” comes up often enough that Amazon tags it.

What we like

  • Adjustable lumbar and a pressure-spreading seat
  • Breathes better than foam-and-fabric chairs
  • Installation offered in some pin codes

Watch out for

  • Several owners complain about the quality of the screws. Tighten everything after the first week.
  • Nylon wheelbase, not metal.
  • Weight limit is 120 kg in the bullets and 150 kg in the spec table. Plan on 120.
  • The warranty lists the mechanism, gas lift, wheelbase and armrest movement. It excludes wear and tear, so the seat itself isn’t clearly covered.
  • 2D armrests and no seat slider. If you’re short or very tall, the Jupiter Pro adjusts more.

Verdict: A sensible first chair for a sore back. Pair it with a physiotherapist’s advice, not instead of it.

5. Green Soul Zodiac Pro — most adjustable around ₹11,000

Check Green Soul Zodiac Pro price on Amazon →

Who it’s for: People between about 5’0″ and 5’10” who want a stronger build and a lumbar support that moves with them.

Its lumbar is a suspended pad on an X-shaped frame that flexes as you lean back. Add a 5 cm seat slider, a multi-lock tilt to 135°, a Class 4 lift and a chrome-plated metal base, rated to 125 kg.

What we like

  • Metal base and Class 4 lift, both on the listing
  • Seat slider, multi-lock tilt, flexing lumbar

Watch out for

  • Amazon’s review summary has some owners saying the lumbar support does little and the backrest isn’t straight. Same fit warning as the Jupiter Pro.
  • The title says 4D armrests; the description says 3D. Expect 3D.
  • Green Soul says it suits 5’0″–5’10”. Taller people should look elsewhere.

Verdict: Worth the step up from the Jupiter Pro if you want a metal base you can trust and a lumbar that moves with you.

6. Featherlite Astro — best for heavier users

Check Featherlite Astro price on Amazon →

Who it’s for: Anyone over 110 kg, or anyone who wants a high-back chair with a height-adjustable lumbar.

Featherlite is one of the older Indian office-furniture brands, and the Astro is built for bigger frames. It’s rated to 150 kg, the highest on this list. The lumbar support adjusts in height with a knob, independent of the backrest, and the headrest is adjustable. The seat is fabric over foam, the back is mesh.

What we like

  • 150 kg rating and height-adjustable lumbar
  • 3-year warranty on manufacturing defects

Watch out for

  • Armrests only go up and down, and the tilt locks in one position.
  • Featherlite doesn’t publish the gas lift class or base material on the pages we read.
  • With about 600 ratings, owners are split on back support, fit and value for money.

Verdict: The one to look at if most chairs feel flimsy under you. For pure adjustability, the Zodiac Pro does more for similar money.

7. The Sleep Company Ultron — premium pick, with caveats

Check The Sleep Company Ultron price on Amazon →

Who it’s for: People who want every adjustment and a pull-out footrest, and are comfortable paying ₹30,000-plus for them.

Over ₹20,000, Amazon.in is thin. Most chairs we found had a few dozen ratings, a 1-year warranty, or a lower weight limit than cheaper chairs. The Ultron is the one we’d consider. It has 7D armrests, a 3D headrest, a flexible backrest, a footrest, a 90–135° recline and a Class 4 lift, per The Sleep Company’s site. It’s rated to 125 kg.

What we like

  • The most adjustable armrests and headrest here, plus a footrest

Watch out for

  • Only about 140 ratings, and they’re shared with a pricier Sleep Company chair. Amazon’s summary says back support is mixed, with some owners reporting back pain.
  • One owner finds the 7D armrests fiddly.
  • We couldn’t find the warranty length on the Amazon listing or the brand page. Ask before you pay.

Verdict: Only if you want the footrest and armrest range. For back support alone, the Onyx or Zodiac Pro costs a third as much.

How to choose an office chair for work from home

Lumbar support and back pain

Your lower back curves inward. A good chair fills that curve so you don’t slump. There are three kinds of lumbar support on this list:

  • Fixed (Verona, C104): the backrest is shaped. Works if your back happens to match it.
  • Adjustable (Jupiter Pro, Onyx, Astro): you move a pad up, down or in to fit you.
  • Dynamic or suspended (Zodiac Pro): the pad flexes as you move.

Adjustable is the safer bet if you already have pain; set the firmest part just above your belt line. But a chair won’t fix a back problem. If the pain lasts more than a couple of weeks, keeps you up at night or runs down your leg, see a doctor or physiotherapist before you spend money on furniture.

Seat height and depth for your height

Feet flat, knees roughly level with your hips; if your feet dangle, a cheap footrest fixes it. Then seat depth: leave two or three fingers’ gap between the seat edge and the back of your knees. Shorter people often find the seat too deep, which pushes them off the lumbar support. A seat slider fixes that, which is why we rate the Jupiter Pro and Zodiac Pro highly.

Mesh for Indian heat

Foam and leatherette trap heat; in a Chennai monsoon without AC you’ll feel it by lunch. Mesh lets air through, and so does The Sleep Company’s grid. Every chair here has a breathable back.

Armrests for typing

Fixed armrests can stop you pulling close to the desk. 3D or 4D armrests slide back and pull in so your elbows rest near desk height while you type.

Tilt lock

A multi-lock tilt lets you fix the back at, say, 100° for typing and 115° for calls. A single lock only fixes it upright.

Class 4 lift and a metal base

The gas lift fails more often than any other part. Look for Class 4 on the listing. A metal or aluminium base matters if you’re over 90 kg or tend to drop into the chair. Several listings here say “metal” in the title and “nylon” in the specs, so check the photos or ask the seller.

Warranty reality

The Verona’s “3 years” is one year on the parts that usually fail. CellBell’s one year excludes backrest breakage from regular use. Before you buy, check what’s covered, who pays courier charges, and whether a technician comes or you fit the part yourself. Keep the invoice.

Assembly

Most arrive flat-packed and take 30–45 minutes with the Allen key in the box; Green Soul pre-assembles key parts. Build it on the cardboard and re-tighten every bolt after a week. Once it’s built, sort out the cables under your desk too; our cable management guide works for a work desk as well.

Common questions

What is the best office chair for work from home in India? For most people, the Green Soul Jupiter Pro: seat slider, 4D armrests, adjustable lumbar and a locking tilt for under ₹10,000. Under ₹5,000, the beAAtho Verona.

What is the best office chair under ₹10,000? The Jupiter Pro if you want adjustability; The Sleep Company Onyx if back comfort is the priority. Both are under ₹10,000 at the time of writing.

What is the best office chair under ₹5,000? The beAAtho Verona Mid Back. It has a Class 4 gas lift and a long Amazon.in track record. Note that only the seat gets 3 years of warranty; other parts get one.

Which office chair is best for back pain? One with adjustable lumbar support that you can set to fit your lower back, such as the Onyx, Jupiter Pro or Featherlite Astro. If the pain lasts more than a couple of weeks, see a doctor or physiotherapist first.

Is a mesh chair good for long hours? Yes, for most people, as long as it has a Class 4 lift and you can adjust it to your height. Mesh stays cool, which matters in Indian summers. Cheap mesh can sag over time, so a good warranty helps.

Gaming chair or office chair for work from home? For long workdays in a warm room, an office chair. Gaming chairs suit reclining, gaming and taller people. Full comparison: gaming chair vs office chair. If you do want one, see our gaming chair picks and best gaming chair under ₹10,000.

How we chose

We haven’t sat in these chairs for this guide; there was no hands-on testing. We read each Amazon.in listing, checked it against the brand’s website, and noted where they disagree. We also read Amazon’s owner-review summaries and the brands’ warranty terms. We dropped chairs with only a handful of ratings, chairs whose ratings were shared with a different model, and listings that contradict themselves on basics like the base or weight limit. No brand paid to be included. Our full method →
