How We Choose the Products We Recommend
Every guide on Dealsshop is meant to help you spend your own money well. This page explains how we put those guides together, what we can and can’t vouch for, and how the site pays for itself.
Where our information comes from
For each product category, we start with what’s actually on sale in India, mostly on Amazon.in, and narrow it down using four sources:
- Manufacturer specifications. Motor ratings, weight limits, dimensions, materials and warranty terms, taken from the brand’s own website and product listing.
- Owner reviews and forums. We read the three- and four-star reviews more closely than the five-star ones, because that’s where people describe what goes wrong after a few months: foam going flat, belts slipping, slow service.
- Retailer and price-tracker data. This tells us whether a product is still in stock, how long it has been sold and how its price moves.
- Independent Indian reviews, where good ones exist.
When two sources disagree, for example a brand’s website says 135 kg and the Amazon listing says 120 kg, we say so on the page and use the more cautious figure.
What we check
What matters depends on the product, but we always ask:
1. Does it suit Indian homes? Heat and humidity, small rooms, power cuts and voltage swings, neighbours below. 2. Is the spec honest? For example, a treadmill’s continuous motor rating rather than its “peak HP”, or the foam type in a chair. 3. What do owners complain about after six months? 4. Can you get it serviced? Warranty terms, who pays for shipping, and whether the brand answers. 5. Is it actually available? We drop products that are out of stock or discontinued.
What we don’t do
- We don’t claim to have tested products we haven’t used. If a guide includes our own hands-on notes or photos, it says so. Otherwise, our view is based on the sources above.
- Brands can’t pay to be included or to get a better position in a list.
- We don’t copy Amazon’s star ratings into our pages as if they were our own.
How we make money
Dealsshop is a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme. When you click a link on our site and buy something on Amazon.in, we may earn a small commission. You pay the same price either way. Commissions differ by category, and for some products Amazon pays nothing. That doesn’t decide what we recommend. We’d rather you buy the right thing and come back than buy the wrong thing through our link.
About prices
Amazon prices change many times a week, especially around sales. Rather than show a price that might be out of date, our guides use price ranges, and the “Buy on Amazon” button takes you to the current price.
Keeping guides up to date
We revisit our main guides every few months, and before big sales like the Great Indian Festival and Prime Day. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you spot something wrong, such as a product that’s no longer sold, a spec that changed, or a problem you’ve had with something we recommend, please tell us. We read every message, and reader reports are one of the best ways we find problems.
